The 36th National Congress on Respiratory Diseases Has Come to a Close

The 36th National Congress on Respiratory Diseases has come to a close. Over four eventful days, pulmonologists, allergists, tuberculosis specialists, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, oncologists, general practitioners, functional diagnostics specialists, and healthcare administrators from across Russia and other countries attended more than 200 events within the scientific program. Plenary sessions, symposia, clinical case marathons, workshops, roundtable discussions, poster sessions, and practical training courses provided healthcare professionals with opportunities to exchange experience and explore current treatment approaches, while stimulating research and innovation in respiratory medicine in response to real-world clinical challenges.

Having access to the medicines needed for treatment plays a key role in controlling symptoms, reducing the frequency of exacerbations, and maintaining quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. Ensuring access to modern, high-tech medicines for the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases in Russia is the primary focus of PSK Pharma's development strategy.

The Congress's scientific program featured presentations on clinical experience with Respirable, the first domestically developed dual bronchodilator, which PSK Pharma developed and launched on the Russian market in 2025. Over the course of a year, prescriptions for this Russian medicine, combining glycopyrronium bromide and indacaterol in a single-dose dry powder inhaler, have doubled.

«The fixed-dose combination of glycopyrronium and indacaterol represents a highly effective treatment option for patients with COPD,» emphasized Natalia Aleksandrovna Esaulova, MD, PhD, Head of Department at the Ural Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonaryology of the Russian Ministry of Health, highlighting the clinical relevance of the medicine in her presentation.

Congress participants noted PSK Pharma's high level of responsibility in developing its pharmaceutical products. In clinical trials, the company's import-substituting inhaled medicines have demonstrated therapeutic equivalence to reference international products, as well as comparable efficacy and safety.

One of the highlights of the 36th National Congress on Respiratory Diseases was the presentation of a novel therapy developed in Russia - a metered-dose dry powder inhaler containing a fixed-dose triple combination of glycopyrronium bromide, indacaterol, and ciclesonide. No medicines containing this combination of molecules are currently available anywhere in the world. This development marks a new stage in the evolution of PSK Pharma's respiratory portfolio, reflecting a strategic transition from import substitution to the development and introduction of its own innovative therapies.
